Unlocking New Opportunities in the Post-Construction Phase

IMCO General Construction, based in Ferndale, Washington, was contracted to build the Holden Mine Water Treatment Plant as part of an EPA Superfund cleanup in a remote, boat‑access only site in the Cascade Mountains. Facing extreme logistics, seasonal shutdowns and wildfire interruptions, IMCO turned to Autodesk’s Building Information Modeling (BIM) solutions—including Navisworks and BIM 360—to manage design, prefabrication, scheduling and site coordination across the project lifecycle.

Using Autodesk BIM tools, IMCO prefabricated components to precise specs, optimized delivery and pour sequencing, updated models with as‑built laser scans, and resolved clashes proactively—enabling fast‑track construction that reduced an 18‑month schedule to about 8 months and completed the project in under a year (roughly 10 months ahead of the original timeline). The Autodesk‑enabled workflow also built owner confidence, leading to a multiyear operations and maintenance contract, full‑time on‑site staffing for 24/7 plant operation, and a new O&M revenue stream for IMCO General Construction.
