Case Study: Start Campus achieves sustainable digitalization for Europe’s largest data center with Autodesk

The experience behind the largest and most sustainable Data Center in Europe

Start Campus, a developer, builder, and operator of the SINES DC data center project in Portugal, faced the challenge of delivering Europe’s largest and most sustainable data campus while coordinating a complex ecosystem of internal teams, design studios, and construction partners. To support the full lifecycle of the project, Start Campus worked with Autodesk and its AEC Collection, including tools such as BIM Collaborate Pro, Revit, Navisworks, Forma, Infraworks, Tandem, and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).

Autodesk helped Start Campus standardize design, construction, and operations by centralizing project data in ACC and enabling cloud-based collaboration through a single source of truth. The solution improved control, communication, and workflow consistency across the project, while supporting digital twins, document management, clash detection, and model coordination. The SINES DC campus is already partially operational with SIN01 at 29 MW, SIN02 is under construction for 180 MW with completion expected in 2026, and the full campus will reach 1.2 GW, with PUE of 1.1 and WUE of 0.
