A Autodesk Case Study
Spanish architect David Romero wanted to expand his 3D modeling skills and recreate lost and unbuilt Frank Lloyd Wright buildings. He turned to Autodesk tools—primarily AutoCAD for modeling and 3ds Max for lighting, cameras and textures—to transform historical plans, photographs and sketches into accurate digital reconstructions.
Using Autodesk software, Romero produced detailed renderings of works such as the Rose Pauson house, the E. A. Smith House, Trinity Chapel and the Larkin Administration Building, launched the Hooked on the Past project, and now collaborates with the Frank Lloyd Wright Conservancy. The Autodesk-powered workflow has brought Wright’s vanished designs back into public view, earned international media coverage (Wired, The New York Times) and helped raise awareness about architectural preservation.
