Pioneering digitalization of Ho Chi Minh City's Metro Line 1 with BIM and GIS

Portcoast, a leading infrastructure firm in Vietnam, was challenged with digitizing the nearly-complete Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien Metro Line 1 project in Ho Chi Minh City. The project, originally designed in 2D with AutoCAD, required highly accurate 3D models for future operations and management. Portcoast partnered with vendor Autodesk to address this using their BIM solutions.

Using Autodesk ReCap Pro, Revit, Civil 3D, and Autodesk Construction Cloud, Portcoast executed a scan-to-BIM process to create precise digital models from laser and UAV data. Integrating this with Esri’s ArcGIS provided a comprehensive digital twin. The solution from Autodesk enabled efficient data management, accurate as-built verification, and set a new standard for infrastructure projects, paving the way for the city's future 183 kilometers of metro lines.
