A Autodesk Case Study
Otto Construction led the design/build delivery of the new Tercero Dining Commons 2 at UC Davis, a 29,000 sq ft dining hall with an exposed kitchen, four cuisine stations and LEED Gold goals. Faced with tight space constraints, complex ventilation/electrical/plumbing systems, and the risk of costly on‑site clashes, Otto relied on Autodesk tools—principally Revit for BIM modeling—to coordinate architects, engineers, the kitchen supplier TriMark, and numerous fabricators early in the process.
Using Autodesk Revit as the central shared model and Autodesk Navisworks for clash detection, Otto enabled precise coordination, early input from the kitchen designer, and off‑site prefabrication of roof, structural systems and MEP assemblies. The Autodesk-powered workflow cut material waste, sped construction (with much of the electrical/plumbing prefabricated and the kitchen underground installation progressing quickly), and produced few RFIs of cost significance, delivering measurable time and cost savings.
