A Autodesk Case Study
Chongqing Architectural Design Institute of China worked with Autodesk to tackle the complex Wutaishan interchange reconstruction in Chongqing, a 2.94-kilometer highway project with a tight design schedule, dense urban constraints, mountainous terrain, and multiple overlapping structures. The team needed to coordinate bridge, tunnel, drainage, lighting, and traffic design while meeting strict environmental standards and minimizing disruption to existing traffic.
Using Autodesk BIM workflows and tools including ReCap, Civil 3D, Revit, InfraWorks, BIM 360, and Navisworks, the institute built an accurate 3D model, ran environmental and traffic simulations, coordinated multidisciplinary collaboration in the cloud, and performed collision checks and VR reviews. Autodesk helped the team identify and fix design conflicts early, improve material accuracy, speed project approvals, and deliver the project on time and within budget, contributing to a final design that improved traffic conditions and became a finalist at the AEC 2019 Excellence Awards.
