Executing collaborative project delivery with BIM

MMC Contractors, a national mechanical contractor, supported Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s new Arthur M. Blank Hospital, a highly complex 2 million-square-foot project involving multiple trades and firms. To help manage the scope, coordination, and schedule pressure, MMC Contractors turned to Autodesk BIM and digital project delivery tools, including Revit and BIM Collaborate Pro, along with STRATUS.

Using Autodesk solutions, MMC Contractors created a cloud-based BIM “single source of truth” for cross-trade collaboration, early clash detection, and prefabrication planning. The approach helped reduce on-site manpower by 40%, cut rework to less than 1%, and shift 7,700 labor hours to the shop. MMC Contractors also prefabricated 85% of components, delivered 724 racks, and saved three-and-a-half months versus a traditional stick-built schedule, with fluids delivered six weeks early.
