Easy-to-use software helps to fill the skills gap

Eccles Tooling Systems faced a skills gap as experienced staff retired and the company expanded into larger, more complex aerospace, marine and rail tooling work. To onboard apprentices quickly and maintain quality across ten Correa CNC machines, Eccles adopted Autodesk software—specifically PowerShape, PowerMill and PowerInspect—so operators could learn faster, handle diverse CAD data and meet growing inspection requirements.

Autodesk’s updated interfaces and capabilities were rolled out across six PowerShape seats, five PowerMill seats and three PowerInspect seats, enabling shop-floor programming, multiple simultaneous PowerMill sessions to feed all ten machines, and portable inspection with a FARO arm. The result was faster training, shorter lead times and much less hand finishing—parts increasingly come off the machine ready for delivery—and inspection reports from PowerInspect are now required on about 99% of jobs, improving consistency and customer confidence.
