A Autodesk Case Study
The architectural firm Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios (FCBStudios) was tasked with designing the University of Warwick's new Faculty of Arts Building, a project centered on creating a space that fostered multi-disciplinary collaboration. Their challenge was to subvert traditional academic building layouts, maximize space, and meet strict sustainability goals, all while working within budget constraints and coordinating a large team of consultants and contractors. They addressed this challenge using Autodesk's 3D design and collaboration software, including Revit.
Using Autodesk Revit, FCBStudios created detailed 3D models that were essential for collaborative design, real-time cost tracking, and clash detection. This allowed the team to make smart, data-driven decisions that saved significant material costs and reduced embodied carbon. The measurable results were substantial, including a savings of 670m³ of concrete, a reduction of 425,000 kgCO2e, and a 35% embodied carbon saving on the façade cladding. The project was delivered successfully and was nominated for the prestigious RIBA Stirling Prize.
