A Small Structural Engineering Firm Stays More Competitive with Revit LT

United Structural Design, LLC, a small Arizona structural engineering firm founded by John Elder and Ben Crellin, needed to minimize startup costs, adopt BIM instead of time-consuming 2D CAD, and remain competitive while the two principals handled all engineering plus business tasks. To meet those needs they selected Autodesk solutions—principally Autodesk Revit LT and Autodesk A360—for low-cost, model-based BIM and cloud collaboration.

Autodesk delivered a Revit LT–based workflow that keeps 3D models, 2D drawings, and schedules synchronized, provides industry-standard structural components and drafting conventions, and enables cloud-based visualizations with A360. By using Autodesk tools United Structural Design reduced rework by catching conflicts during design, sped documentation and delivery, produced billable renderings in-house (increasing revenue), and gained the efficiency and professional outputs needed to compete with much larger firms.
