A Autodesk Construction Cloud Case Study
Royal BAM Group, part of the Levvel consortium working on the Afsluitdijk renewal in the Netherlands, needed a better way to coordinate a large multidisciplinary team on a highly complex infrastructure project. With hundreds of stakeholders involved, the team needed a common data environment to eliminate silos, improve design coordination, and manage dependencies, deadlines, and model reviews more efficiently. Autodesk Construction Cloud, including BIM 360 and Assemble, was used to support the collaboration and BIM-based preconstruction process.
Autodesk Construction Cloud enabled Royal BAM Group and its partners to work from a single source of truth for 3D and 2D model data, automate clash detection, streamline quantity take-offs, and speed up review cycles. The results were significant: design coordination reviews dropped from up to five days to one day, an 80% reduction, and quantity take-off updates took about half the time versus traditional workflows. Autodesk’s tools also helped deliver 40,000 tonnes less CO2 emissions, a 56% reduction compared with alternative solutions, while improving communication, phasing, and long-term maintainability.
