Case Study: VAICO achieves faster seismic compliance and better field collaboration with Autodesk Construction Cloud

A Autodesk Construction Cloud Case Study

How VAICO’s Outstanding Field Collaboration and Communication Helped a Community Recover from an Earthquake

VAICO, a New Zealand-based seismic bracing design and engineering company, was brought in to support Christchurch’s rebuild after the devastating earthquakes. Working with outdated or missing as-built drawings and paper-based plans made field collaboration, communication, and construction quality management difficult across the project team. VAICO adopted Autodesk Construction Cloud’s PlanGrid Build to bring drawings and jobsite information into a cloud-based environment.

With Autodesk Construction Cloud and PlanGrid, VAICO digitized inspections, shared up-to-date drawings in real time, and improved accountability across onsite teams and international design partners. The results were dramatic: reports turnaround time dropped by 92%, more than 250 hours per person were saved, and paper costs were eliminated. Across 150+ projects, VAICO also reduced inspection/report preparation from 50–60 minutes to just moments, helping improve compliance and project coordination.
