How Permasteelisa Deploys Hands-Free Construction Management

RealWear helped Permasteelisa Group, a global leader in building facades and architectural envelopes, tackle the challenge of capturing inspections and project information safely in high-risk, hard-to-reach jobsite areas. Because curtain wall work often takes place at heights or in confined spaces, the team needed a way to access checklists, notes, and project data without relying on tablets or other handheld devices. Autodesk Construction Cloud products, specifically Autodesk BIM 360, were already part of Permasteelisa’s connected workflow.

Autodesk Construction Cloud and RealWear integrated BIM 360 with the RealWear HMT-1 wearable device to enable hands-free, voice-controlled checklists, videoconferencing, and sharing of high-resolution images and video. The solution improved worker safety, reduced errors, strengthened collaboration across stakeholders and geographies, and cut travel time by allowing remote inspections and virtual meetings. It also helped Permasteelisa keep projects moving more efficiently while limiting unnecessary onsite visits during the pandemic.
