How Mark III Reduces Waste and Increases Productivity with Lean Construction

Mark III Construction, a Sacramento-based specialty contractor serving institutional and commercial clients, wanted to improve predictability, reduce waste, and increase productivity in complex MEP projects. To support its lean construction goals, Mark III used Autodesk Construction Cloud, including Autodesk AEC Collection and PlanGrid Build, to connect design, planning, fabrication, and field execution.

With Autodesk Construction Cloud, Mark III expanded cloud-based collaboration and VDC workflows to test Project Mountain, its R&D initiative for prefabrication, kitting, and offsite manufacturing. The results were strong: one comparable build dropped from three weeks with traditional stick-built methods to four days of manufacturing and under four hours of installation, and another project shaved three days off a 10-day schedule. These efficiencies helped Mark III win more work, complete projects ahead of schedule, and target a 16%–20% reduction in construction costs over five years while improving quality and predictability.
