A Autodesk BIM 360 Case Study
The Hull University Teaching Hospital NHS Trust, which supports a population of 765,000 across more than 4,700 km², needed to eliminate lengthy, error-prone paper workflows for its capital development and refurbishment projects. Seeking a single, on-site source of truth, the trust adopted PlanGrid — part of the Autodesk BIM 360 offering — to move its project team toward a paperless way of working and centralize drawings, forms and site data.
Using Autodesk BIM 360’s PlanGrid, the team of eight project managers now access active site drawings, mark up plans, capture photos and complete snagging tasks digitally, removing the need for manual re-entry and paper forms. After more than two years, the solution has transformed on-site working by instantly recording issues and tracking tasks, driven process improvements (for example, a new digital key-assignment workflow) and delivered clear efficiency gains, although some manual steps remain while contractors are not yet fully onboarded.
