Mercury’s Digital Transformation Pairing Construction Software with a Passion for Excellence

Mercury, an Irish contractor with more than 2,000 employees and €770M in turnover, faced the challenge of standardizing and digitizing its construction processes across regions and projects—replacing multiple overlapping tools, improving consistency, easing training, and enabling better benchmarking. To meet this need, Mercury piloted and then adopted Autodesk BIM 360 (a cloud-based construction software) beginning in 2017 as the single field and document platform for design collaboration, document control, RFIs/submittals, progress tracking, quality, commissioning and O&M generation.

Mercury implemented Autodesk BIM 360 company-wide with a phased rollout that included train-the-trainer programs, defined SOPs and project roles, internal “BIM 360 Champions,” and ongoing Autodesk support and KPIs. The solution delivered measurable benefits—greater transparency in design review and quality tracking, easier subcontractor benchmarking, reduced paperwork and faster handoffs—and drove adoption increases of 169% for NextGen projects and 36% for Classic projects, with 43 projects now using Autodesk BIM 360.
