Interserve builds clinical facility in nine days using PlanGrid

Interserve Group, an international construction and support services company, was asked in March 2020 to convert the NEC in Birmingham into a clinical facility for the NHS on an accelerated timeline while maintaining strict social-distancing and coordination across many partners. To manage rapidly changing drawings and on-site teams, Interserve used PlanGrid (now part of Autodesk BIM 360) to provide cloud-based, mobile access to up-to-date plans and documentation.

Autodesk BIM 360’s PlanGrid was set up in under two hours (150 drawings uploaded) and made available to the whole team within 24 hours, enabling real-time mark-ups, time-stamped records and photo capture. The solution helped Interserve Group deliver the Nightingale facility in nine days with over 50 staff and 400 subcontractors, logging 86,000 construction hours, 1,200 photos and 500 tasks closed; handover was completed within 48 hours, improving coordination, auditability and safe working.
