Case Study: iNFRANEA achieves real-time 3D/4D coordination for the River Waal widening with Autodesk BIM 360

iNFRANEA uses BIM to model, coordinate, and plan a river-widening project on the River Waal Nijmegen

iNFRANEA, an Antwerp-based infrastructure and BIM specialist, led coordination for the River Waal widening project in Nijmegen where more than 10 engineering disciplines and constantly shifting temporary works created major coordination and safety challenges (including mapping unexploded WWII ordnance). To manage this complexity, iNFRANEA used Autodesk Navisworks Manage alongside the cloud/mobile service Autodesk BIM 360 Glue from vendor Autodesk BIM 360 to aggregate models, detect clashes, and link models to construction schedules.

By creating a single 3D/4D model and sharing it via Autodesk BIM 360, iNFRANEA ran weekly coordination reviews that identified and resolved more than 15 major interface conflicts and numerous minor clashes, delivered error-free construction data to date, and improved on-site safety and communication through mobile access—reducing potential costs and schedule delays.
