Preview of the Cannistraro Case Study

How Cannistraro Innovates & Wins with Prefab and Modular Construction Technology

Cannistraro, a Boston‑based mechanical construction firm known for leading prefab and modular construction, needed to deliver a large prefabricated mechanical equipment skid that would reduce onsite work but required the building to be adapted to fit the unit. To coordinate designers, fabricators and contractors and to validate constructability up front, Cannistraro turned to Autodesk BIM 360 and complementary Autodesk tools such as Navisworks to visualize the scope, run clash detection, and align stakeholders during preconstruction.

By using Navisworks for detailed clash detection and Autodesk BIM 360 for 3D model coordination and constructability reviews, Cannistraro built the skid in‑house and installed it as a single unit, cutting deliveries and field work. The approach delivered measurable impact: 5 fewer deliveries, 2 weeks shaved from the schedule, 18 fewer material‑handling hours, 110 fewer field hours, and a 13% materials cost savings—while improving jobsite safety and reducing waste.
