A Autodesk BIM 360 Case Study
Consigli Construction was hired as construction manager at risk to deliver Framingham State University’s North Hall, a 125,000 sq. ft., 410‑bed residence hall with three nonnegotiable goals: open on time, stay on budget, and minimize disruption to campus life. To meet these requirements Consigli relied on Autodesk BIM solutions — including Autodesk Revit Architecture, Autodesk Navisworks Manage, and Autodesk BIM 360 Field — to drive design review, coordination, and site planning.
Using Revit models and Navisworks sequencing (linked to Primavera) Consigli refined the design (switching to a steel frame with precast planks), ran clash detection (about 100 interferences on the first two floors, then only ~2 per additional floor, and only one notable field clash), and took BIM into the field with Autodesk BIM 360 Field on iPads for punch lists and commissioning. The Autodesk BIM 360–enabled workflow produced a 4D schedule, reduced constructability issues, and helped deliver the building before the fall 2011 semester — finishing 0.5% under budget and with smoother handover and lifecycle maintenance data for the owner.
