Autodesk BIM 360 Glue helps students around the world work across disciplines, just as they will in industry

The University of Southern California needed a way to give architecture and construction students real-world, cross-disciplinary BIM experience so they could learn to coordinate across roles. Assistant Professor David Gerber turned to Autodesk BIM 360 and its BIM 360 Glue cloud platform in his Professional Practice class, assigning teams to play architects, construction managers, and project managers and requiring remote, shared access to 3D models.

Using Autodesk BIM 360 (BIM 360 Glue), students performed clash detection, model queries, visualizations, and submitted RFIs while managing design changes in real time—mirroring industry workflows. The cloud solution cut down version-control problems, sped clash resolution and design iterations, and improved students’ coordination skills and job readiness by teaching practical, cross-functional problem solving.
