How Imperfect Foods Handles Huge Growth With Auth0

Imperfect Foods, a grocery delivery company founded to cut food waste and build a fairer food system, grew quickly after launching in 2015 and has raised $119.1M in funding. The COVID-19 pandemic created a “tsunami of demand,” with sign-ups and monthly active users more than doubling between February and June and reaching about 400,000 users.

To scale securely and quickly, Imperfect Foods outsourced identity and access management to Auth0, using it for registration, password handling and Universal Login for internal roles. The move eliminated the need to store passwords, saved at least a couple of engineering months versus building in-house, avoided identity headaches during rapid growth, and let the team focus on core operations like inventory and delivery.
