Case Study: Entur achieves unified national public-transport ticketing with Auth0

A Auth0 Case Study

Preview of the Entur Case Study

How Entur is Unifying Norway’s Public Transport Ticketing

Entur is a government-owned company building national digital infrastructure for Norway’s public transport, enabling journey planning and centralized ticketing via open APIs. When tasked with unifying the country’s rail ticketing (and later other transport services), Entur needed a scalable, GDPR-compliant authentication solution that could support diverse users—end travelers, operators, kiosk sellers—and machine-to-machine communication, but did not want to build or maintain identity systems in-house.

Entur selected Auth0 for an API-driven, future-proof identity platform and implemented it in two months: a B2C SDK library for account creation and login, B2B federation for partners (a quarter of Entur’s 85 partners already onboarded), and M2M services for secure inter-service communication. The result is industry-leading authentication without technical debt or extra FTEs, enabling rapid partner onboarding and scalable national ticketing with ongoing vendor support.
