How Dunelm Is Transforming Its Digital Infrastructure With Auth0

Dunelm, the UK’s leading homewares retailer with over 300,000 products and more than 170 superstores, began a 2018 migration to a scalable AWS cloud platform and found its homegrown identity system was costly to maintain, hard for developers to work around, and required significant ongoing security effort. The company needed a secure, off‑the‑shelf identity solution that would let teams focus on core customer features instead of infrastructure upkeep.

Dunelm adopted Auth0 for customer, supplier and internal authentication—using it for M2M APIs, B2B portals and B2E staff logins—so developers could concentrate on functionality while security was handled by experts. The move improved scalability and maintenance, enabled faster development, and saved the equivalent of an estimated eight to ten dedicated security staff, with plans to extend Auth0 to simplify customer checkout and order lookup.
