A Auriga Case Study
Large Telecom Provider engaged Auriga to develop a new digital/analog wireless video and audio transmission system for its Linux-based telecom environment. The challenge was to create a coding approach tolerant to loss and distortion in the coded signal fragments, while meeting noise-immunity and channel-capacity requirements on a Xilinx platform.
Auriga implemented compression and encoding/decoding algorithms on Linux for the Xilinx Spartan-6 hardware platform, along with analog signal digitization, audio receiving/encoding, signal identification, stream storage to external memory, and video output formation. The solution was deployed in the customer’s surveillance system, improving reliability and security, with a coherent picture delivered at a 1% error probability and motion response maintained at a 10% interference probability.
