A Augury Case Study
Hologic, a North America-based medical device and diagnostic manufacturing company, was looking to reduce unplanned downtime and unexpected repair costs for its critical air handling units (AHUs). With only two maintenance staff supporting a 180,000 ft² facility and 28 critical machines, the team needed a more scalable predictive maintenance approach than their existing outsourced, tablet-based PdM process. Augury helped address these challenges with its continuous and portable diagnostics solutions, including Halo Continuous Diagnostics.
Augury implemented real-time monitoring using vibration, ultrasound, and magnetic data to detect machine issues early and provide continuous diagnostics for Hologic’s critical equipment. Within the first week, Augury identified an early-stage motor bearing defect on an AHU serving ISO5 and ISO7 cleanrooms, allowing Hologic to plan a repair before catastrophic failure. The motor was replaced for $3,500 within 60 days, helping Hologic avoid $212K in downtime-related losses and save $20K in repair costs while maintaining uptime and production stability.
