Augment partnered with international artist ORLAN to reinvent how viewers experience self-portrait masks. ORLAN wanted to break the constraints of static, rigid artwork and introduce new interactivity across exhibitions in multiple countries.

Augment turned each canvas into a custom AR tracker so that scanning a mask with the app reveals an animated 3D model of the artist emerging from the painting. The result brought dynamic interaction and fresh emotional responses to ORLAN’s pieces and toured successfully in Paris, Seoul and Riga in 2014, with ORLAN praising Augment as the best AR application.
