Greenpub, a French startup founded in 2010 that specializes in advertising on restaurant napkins, faced the challenge of turning static napkin ads into engaging, trackable experiences during the Tour de France 2014. Working with LCL and Augment, they needed a solution that would capture diners’ attention and drive immediate visits to advertisers’ pages across a large restaurant rollout.
Using Augment’s AR technology, diners were invited to scan images on the napkins with the AUGMENT app (available on AppStore and GooglePlay) to view a 3D model and access a direct link to the advertiser’s webpage. The campaign distributed 2 million napkins across more than 1,100 restaurants during the Tour de France, transforming printed ads into interactive brand touchpoints.
