Changing the way Student Understand Science

Augment, an augmented reality platform, partnered with Jonathan Newman, a chemistry teacher at Rehoboth Christian School in New Mexico, to tackle a common classroom challenge: helping students recognize and understand molecular shapes and VSEPR concepts in a more intuitive way. Traditional diagrams and lectures weren’t giving students the spatial understanding needed for the subject.

Mr. Newman built an AR chemistry test using Augment—students scanned printed trackers with the Augment app to view 3D molecules and answered questions based on those models. The interactive exam increased student engagement, proved successful in practice, and inspired other teachers and schools to adopt Augment as a valuable teaching tool.
