TPN, a major UK palletized freight distribution network, was concerned about rising energy costs and the time spent managing utility contracts. They engaged cost management consultants Auditel to review their electricity costs, which were on an inappropriate single-rate tariff that did not reflect their high nighttime usage.

Auditel quickly tendered the market and moved TPN to a more suitable Economy 7 tariff structure. This change resulted in substantial savings, including 21% in the first year and 26% in the third year, plus a £14,000 credit for historical overcharges. Auditel's solution saved TPN significant money and freed up management time, leading to plans for further audits on other utilities.
