How Masonite Internal Audit Reduced PMO Time by 75%

Masonite International’s internal audit team was spending a lot of time on SOX testing in a manual environment that relied on email and Excel spreadsheets. Katie Shellabarger, VP and Chief Audit Executive, said she spent over 2,000 hours on project management alone, which was essentially one FTE.

Masonite implemented AuditBoard’s Optro platform, including SOXHUB, OpsAudit, and RiskOversight, to create a connected workflow across internal and external stakeholders. The rollout achieved strong adoption and stakeholder satisfaction, and Masonite said PMO time was reduced by about 75%, with spreadsheet updates becoming instantaneous in Optro. The team also used the time saved to take on consulting projects and operational audits.
