How Allegro MicroSystems Maintained Audit Continuity & Efficiency During a Crisis

Allegro MicroSystems, a global leader in power and sensing semiconductor technology, faced the challenge of maintaining SOX compliance and audit continuity while transitioning to remote work during the COVID-19 crisis. Corporate Controller Erich Manz explained that prior manual processes and an unwieldy in-house SharePoint tool made scaling difficult, so Allegro adopted AuditBoard’s audit management solution to centralize control narratives, procedures, policies and account reconciliations in one system.

Using AuditBoard, Allegro implemented a centralized audit repository with automated audit logs, role-based access for internal and external auditors, and built-in communication tracking—enabling a seamless remote close despite a March fiscal year end and a new external audit firm. The result was significant time and cost savings: hours of administrative work were eliminated, external auditors avoided billable time compiling test data, and Allegro estimates they avoided hiring two junior staff (roughly 10% of a 20–25 person team), while gaining full visibility into their control environment.
