Seamless and Cost-effective Integration of Analog Devices into a Global Skype for Business Deployment

UCB, a global biopharmaceutical company headquartered in Belgium, moved to Microsoft Skype for Business to reduce costs and boost productivity but faced a complex migration: replacing legacy telephony, maintaining PSTN/SIP connectivity, ensuring branch survivability, and integrating hundreds of critical analog devices (alarms, faxes, intercoms) across its Braine campus without service disruption.

Working with 1plex, UCB deployed AudioCodes Mediant SBCs for SIP/TDM connectivity and survivable branch appliances, plus a high-density MediaPack 1288 analog gateway to consolidate hundreds of analog ports in a single chassis. The solution enabled a smooth, cost-effective migration with branch resiliency, seamless PSTN/SIP interoperability, rapid integration of analog devices, and more than half of UCB’s sites already moved to Skype for Business with legacy systems being decommissioned.
