Enabling a Smooth Migration from Alcatel-Lucent to Microsoft UC

Telmex, the Mexican telecommunications provider, needed to upgrade internal communications for 1,700 users across three sites and add unified communications capabilities while keeping its existing Lucent-Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise IP-PBX environment working with Microsoft UC. Because the legacy platform was not Microsoft-certified, the project required SIP mediation, transcoding, and interoperability with multiple IP-PBX environments.

AudioCodes, working with IP-Telsis, implemented the Mediant 3000 Session Border Controller to bridge Telmex’s IP-PBX with Microsoft UC. The deployment delivered seamless interoperability, high-density support, and carrier-grade reliability, and after a successful 150-user pilot, Telmex expanded it to 1,700 users.
