Novus Energy Inc., a junior oil and gas company operating in Alberta and Saskatchewan, was managing more than 400 Approvals for Expenditures (AFEs) per year through spreadsheets, manual tracking sheets, and a lot of manual follow-up. This created slow processing, misplaced or lost AFEs, duplication errors, and control issues. Vendor Aucerna was brought in with its Aucerna Execute (powered by AFE Navigator) solution to help modernize the process.

Aucerna implemented Aucerna Execute, a web-based AFE workflow and capital tracking system that centralized AFE data, documents, and approvals while integrating with Novus Energy’s existing accounting systems. The result was a dramatic improvement: duplication errors disappeared, the process became more transparent and easier to manage, more departments could participate, and approval times were reduced, often by weeks.
