Obsidian Energy Shaves Hours From Their Well Forecasting Process on Hundreds of Wells With Val Nav™

Obsidian Energy, an energy producer, was spending about 5 hours each month on a manual well forecasting process for 200+ wells, copying current-month actuals and adjusting run times by hand. This repetitive work, used to support optimization projects and track ROI from solvent stim jobs, was time-consuming and prone to errors. They used Aucerna’s Val Nav™ software for economic evaluations and monthly operation forecasting.

With Aucerna’s Val Nav data import tool and wedge-case modeling, Obsidian Energy automated much of the forecasting workflow and reduced the process from roughly 5 hours per month to about 15 minutes. The solution eliminated manual data-entry errors, helped engineers quickly track incremental production and ROI on optimized wells, and freed up time for higher-value strategic work.
