Norandal expands its Attunity Relationship to leverage Attunity InFocus

Noranda USA Inc., a leading manufacturer of rolled aluminum and aluminum foil, sought greater visibility into its manufacturing performance metrics to more effectively identify issues and apply six sigma quality approaches to its casting process. The company needed to move from time-consuming manual data collection to a solution that provided timely, actionable information to prioritize plant-wide projects correctly. To address this, they partnered with vendor Attunity to implement its InFocus solution.

Attunity implemented its InFocus solution to provide Noranda with intraday visibility into key performance indicators like pounds per inch of width (PIW) from their existing HP Open VMS systems. This enabled management to identify the root causes of casting issues, prioritize impactful Six Sigma projects, and focus engineering resources on the most critical business areas. The results for Noranda included increased casting efficiency, improved inventory management, a better ability to revise product cost structures, and a significant increase in employee productivity as less time was spent gathering data.
