Lloyds of London, in a joint venture, needed to converge two legacy CICS processing systems to create more efficient and consistent customer services at a lower cost. The challenge involved resolving incompatibilities between different claims and premiums processes and avoiding the pitfalls of an unsupported hardware platform. They partnered with vendor Attunity, using their Attunity Connect product for the integration.
The solution from Attunity provided standard, bidirectional integration between a J2EE application server and the mainframe-based CICS engine, which accelerated implementation and simplified connections. This allowed the team to add and fine-tune transactions without costly rework. The results included significant cost savings from eliminating duplicate platforms, increased processing capacity without additional staff, and a more agile system. The project was completed successfully with no errors in data conversion and no business disruption during the rollout.
