Asahi Shimbun Company - Customer Case Study

The Asahi Shimbun Company, a major Japanese media publisher, faced a challenge in managing the frequent deployment and deletion of dynamic, rich media content to its rapidly growing base of cellular phone subscribers. Their existing infrastructure was unable to efficiently handle the escalating data volumes across an expanding number of edge servers, which increased the burden on their IT department. They required a robust and scalable replication solution compatible with their Solaris environment.

The vendor Attunity, through its product RepliWeb Directory Synchronization (RDS), provided the solution. After months of testing, Asahi Shimbun implemented RDS to automatically pull content from publishing systems and push it out to ten production web servers every minute. The solution provided centralized management, fault-tolerant operations, and detailed reporting, seamlessly keeping servers updated while deleting old content. This allowed the company to maintain its high quality of service for subscribers.
