How Ocean Bottle identified new customer groups through consumer profiling

Ocean Bottle, a London-based consumer goods company, had sold more than a million reusable bottles but had lost touch with who its customers were as its business shifted from D2C to B2B. To better understand buyers, non-buyers, and perceptions of sustainability, purpose, and pricing, they turned to Attest and its consumer profiling solution.

Using Attest’s profiling and segmentation tools, Ocean Bottle researched both existing customers and competitor users, then grouped them into personas. The project revealed that their customers were older than expected and identified two key segments, including “Active Ash” and “Progressive Peigh.” This insight helped settle internal debates around activism messaging, supported a new affordable “gateway” product range, and informed new advertising and future channel planning.
