The Fragrance Shop Scentsational training success with gamification

The Fragrance Shop, a major UK fragrance retailer, faced a significant challenge in providing consistent and effective product knowledge training to its diverse workforce across over 200 stores. Traditional training methods, including complicated paper documents, resulted in low staff engagement and made it difficult to ensure a uniform learning experience. To overcome this, the company partnered with vendor Attensi to implement a new solution.

Attensi developed a gamified training app called ScentBox. This immersive solution allowed employees to learn at their own pace, repeating modules to achieve mastery in a fun, competitive, and safe environment. The results were exceptional: the training closed 98% of the knowledge gap, with 82% of staff stating they would apply the knowledge in their daily work. The content was accessed over 2.1 million times, with employees repeating modules an average of seven times each, leading to a massive improvement in consistent customer service.
