Literacy Partners and ATTCK use Sans 18% to spotlight New York’s 18% literacy gap

Literacy Partners, a nonprofit organization, faced the challenge of raising awareness and donations for adult illiteracy, a problem affecting 18% of New Yorkers. They partnered with the creative agency The&Partnership and the technology vendor ATTCK to develop a digital campaign that would viscerally communicate the experience of illiteracy to those who can read.

ATTCK implemented the digital experience for the "Broken Typeface" campaign using WordPress and custom development. They created an interactive website where text appears broken, mirroring the custom Sans 18% font, and donations directly correlate to making the text more legible. This streamlined the donation process and powerfully visualized impact. The campaign achieved major press coverage in Adweek and The Wall Street Journal and featured a billboard in Times Square, successfully driving awareness and vital donations for Literacy Partners.
