A AttackIQ Case Study
ESED, a Barcelona-based managed security service provider (MSSP), helps small and midsize businesses find and remediate gaps in security controls. The firm struggled to scale its highly manual, time- and staff-intensive penetration testing service and needed a faster, repeatable way to validate controls and respond to urgent customer requests. To address this, ESED adopted the AttackIQ Security Optimization Platform (breach and attack simulation) to streamline assessments and emulate real-world adversary techniques.
Using AttackIQ and the MITRE ATT&CK framework, ESED automated attack simulations, reduced assessment staff time by 50%–90% compared with manual pen tests, and cut large-scale test time to roughly one-fourth or one-fifth of manual efforts—evidenced by running 74 scenarios across five targets in under a week versus several weeks manually. AttackIQ also enabled consistent reporting via its API dashboard, freed analysts to design advanced attacks and advise customers, and underpinned ESED Attack, delivering about five times the revenue of manual penetration testing.
