Case Study: Tyson Foods achieves analytics modernization and self-service BI with AtScale

A AtScale Case Study

Preview of the Tyson Case Study

Analytics Modernization at Tyson Foods

Tyson aimed to deliver self-service analytics to its 144,000 employees but was held back by fragmented data across Hadoop, Amazon RedShift and other platforms, an analogue reporting experience, and tedious engineering to blend diverse raw formats. Tyson engaged AtScale, leveraging the AtScale semantic layer, to modernize its data architecture and unify disparate sources so analysts could access trusted, analysis-ready data.

AtScale implemented a governed semantic layer that unified data into a single source of truth and allowed cloud migration to Google BigQuery (while supporting Hadoop and RedShift) without disrupting users. The solution delivered measurable impact: 15 minutes or less from source to available analytics, 21K queries/day running in under 10 seconds, and 80+ metrics with multiple time periods — reducing errors, centralizing governance, enabling self-service BI, and letting analysts test ideas in hours instead of days.
