McKesson centralizes utility bill data to find 7% savings across portfolio

McKesson, a Fortune 5 medical and pharmaceutical company with 1,200 facilities across six business units, needed to centralize disparate utility and performance data to ensure consistent, accurate reporting and better engage internal and external stakeholders. Their goals were seamless integration with existing and future systems, clear portfolio- and facility-level visibility, and streamlined reporting to support an enterprise facilities management rollout.

Partnering with CBRE, McKesson implemented BuildingOS to automate utility and meter data collection, centralize reporting, and enable ongoing integrations. In the initial 200‑building phase (433 meters, 1,874 utility accounts) they expect roughly 7% portfolio savings, faster, data-driven investment and operations decisions, and staff time reclaimed for acting on insights—one HQ fan-schedule correction alone is projected to save about $12,000 annually—while a public dashboard tracks sustainability progress as they expand features and KPIs.
