Case Study: MiNO Marine achieves rapid hull design and market breakthrough with Atos (JARVICE™ & Nimbix Cloud)

A Atos Case Study

Preview of the MiNO Marine Case Study

Newcomer MiNO Marine used JARVICE™ and the Nimbix Cloud to accelerate analyses and engineer all-new hulls for instant differentiation

MiNO Marine, a Louisiana naval architecture firm, faced a classic small‑company challenge: its engineers needed to run large, multi‑core Star‑CCM+ computational fluid dynamics simulations to design radically different towboat hulls, but desktop workstations were too slow and an in‑house HPC cluster was cost‑prohibitive. To overcome this, MiNO turned to Atos’ high‑performance computing offering—using JARVICE™ and the Nimbix Cloud—to access scalable compute resources without the burden of building or maintaining infrastructure.

Using Atos’ JARVICE/Nimbix Cloud platform, MiNO ran Star‑CCM+ jobs in parallel on hundreds of cores, cutting simulation runtimes from days to hours and enabling dozens of scenarios to be analyzed in a day or two. The faster throughput directly produced measurable outcomes: the company designed the world’s largest cylindrical lift boat (335‑foot legs), optimized a new offshore wind turbine installation ship, and created a 6,000‑horsepower towboat with a novel hull that went into production — multiple ships under construction in less than a year.
