Case Study: Department of Defence maintains training readiness with Atos virtual classrooms

A Atos Case Study

Preview of the Department of Defence Case Study

In the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, Atos assists the Department of Defence through the rapid implementation of a new virtual training solution

Faced with the Covid-19 pandemic, the Australian Department of Defence needed a way to continue its specialist configuration and asset management toolset training after all in-person sessions were halted. The challenge for vendor Atos was to rapidly transition this critical, location-based training to a fully remote Cloud-based solution, a method that had never been attempted for this type of engineering training.

Atos implemented an innovative virtual classroom environment using online collaboration platforms and virtual machines. This solution replicated all aspects of the face-to-face learning experience on each trainee's laptop, allowing the training content to remain unchanged. The swift action by Atos meant the transition was completed within four weeks. This resulted in an increased number of trained personnel and ensured the Department of Defence could maintain the readiness and availability of its frontline assets.
