Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation needed a flexible, globally coordinated IT environment to support 71 nations, multiple host cities and constantly changing technology requirements for a major international sporting event. Atos was engaged to deliver the event IT, using its Games Management System (GMS), Information Diffusion System (IDS) and the Canopy private cloud alongside global infrastructure and networking resources.

Atos implemented the GMS, IDS and an Australia‑hosted Canopy cloud plus international infrastructure to manage accreditations, sports entries and a central results platform, making results available immediately during the 11‑day Games. Atos’ solution supported 6,600 athletes and team officials, 15,000 volunteers and 71 nations, enabled a robust, cost‑effective operations model with faster delivery and lower risk, and delivered state‑of‑the‑art Olympic standard systems for GOLDOC.
