Global agricultural company modernizes with worldwide server refresh

Leading International Agrochemical Company was struggling with an aging global server estate—about 6,000 servers with multiple out‑of‑support operating systems and fragmented, informal life‑cycle practices that increased security risk, downtime and operating cost. To address this, the company engaged Atos and its Atos Life Cycle Management (LCM) service to systematically discover, remediate and upgrade OSs and critical server applications across the environment.

Atos designed and built a seven‑step, 52‑status LCM program (including a bespoke SQL‑backed LCM application) to automate discovery, testing, build, deployment and decommissioning with CMDB updates. The Atos LCM team delivered 1,300 remediations in year one (2016) versus 1,400 over the prior three years, and drove measurable improvements in stability and security: P1 incidents down 80% (75→15), P2 down 67% (150→50), P3 down 48% (2,500→1,300), P4 down 17% (1,800→1,500) and the Vulnerability Index down 80% (1,500→300), yielding lower costs, fewer tickets, less downtime and a better end‑user experience.
