Georgia Technology Authority Enhances Cybersecurity For State Agencies

The Georgia Technology Authority (GTA), the state of Georgia’s central IT agency responsible for mainframe and infrastructure services for executive branch agencies, sought to move from an inflexible contract to Mainframe-as-a-Service (MFaaS) to reduce costs, improve performance, and better align services to agency needs. Atos responded to GTA’s RFP with an MFaaS proposal to integrate a more efficient mainframe into the state’s private cloud and existing multisourcing platform.

Atos implemented a refreshed mainframe and storage environment, resized capacity (from 4,034 MIPS to 1,811 MIPS), consolidated LPARs, leveraged software discounts, and tuned workloads for peak performance. The Atos MFaaS solution delivered 100% of SLAs, repeated 10/10 CSAT scores, realized more than 30% cost savings that helped fund a statewide cybersecurity initiative, and led to new managed security services launched in 2019.
